Microsoft Word Ban in US

What does this mean for business in Alberta?

Not much right now, however Bulletproof pledges to keep an eye on this event impacting future sales on a Microsoft flagship product.  Microsoft Word is no secret to many businesses in Calgary and Red Deer.  Each day, many clients of Bulletproof use Microsoft Word and many of the other products found in their productivity suites, Office 2003 and Office 2007.

In July,Bulletproof InfoTech was accepted into the Microsoft Office 2010 Technical Preview program.  Many of the Bulletproof team have been busy testing Office 2010 however how will these latest events impact the current versions of Word and also the planned releases of Office 2010?

A Texas judge ruled in favour of Toronto based i4i, who claims Microsoft violated one of their patents on the creation of custom XML documents.  Why is this ruling critical?  Starting in Word 2003, Microsoft included XML-based files with the Office products.  XML allows for easy exchange of information across multiple platforms and computer systems.

As of today, it is business as usual here in Canada for Microsoft and Microsoft Word.  Bulletproof will continue to watch how this will impact you and your business.
